A pure hitter and fierce competitor, Stone came to Millersville as a walk-on and turned himself into an All-American and the program’s career leader in hits and RBIs. The 2013 PSAC East Athlete of the Year and three-time All-Atlantic Region selection sparked Millersville baseball on to a tremendous run of success that included three PSAC East titles and an NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship in 2011.

When Stone’s career concluded in 2014, he had totaled 267 hits, 158 RBIs, 159 runs and 53 doubles. He still ranks in the top 10 in each of those statistical categories. He hit .364 over his 217-game career, which placed him ninth at the time of his graduation. In 2013, the season he became Millersville’s first PSAC East Athlete of the Year, Stone hit .406 over 58 games for Millersville’s first .400 season in 11 years.

In addition to winning the PSAC East’s top award, Stone became the first Marauder named All-America twice. He played anywhere the team needed him, earning All-Atlantic Region recognition at three different positions, and winning an ABCA Regional Gold Glove as a third baseman in 2011.

In his debut season of 2011, Stone led the PSAC in RBIs, led the team with a .434 on base percentage and hit .357. He ranked in the PSAC’s top five in walks, hit by pitch, doubles and runs. His production led Millersville to a memorable 44-12 record and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Atlantic Regional. Stone went 8-for-17 in the regional and bashed Mercyhurst for three hits in Millersville’s regional championship victory. At the NCAA Championship, Stone had a hit in all three of Millersville’s games, and his RBI single proved to be the difference in the Marauders’ 1-0 win over Central Missouri.

As a sophomore, Stone became the first Marauder in 11 years to lead the team in RBIs in back-to-back seasons. His true breakout season came in 2013. He was a consensus All-Atlantic Region First Team selection and voted Daktronics and NCBWA All-America. Stone tied the school record for hits, scored the second-most runs in program history, tallied the fourth-most bases, and ranked in the PSAC’s top 10 in average, hits, doubles, home runs, walks and hit by pitches. He also led the league with a .510 on base percentage. He hit an incredible .450 in 80 at bats vs. PSAC East teams, and he hit .367 in Millersville’s playoff run that included a trip to the PSAC championship game and the NCAA Atlantic Regional. He was also a semifinalist for the Josh Willingham Award.

As a senior, Stone earned Daktronics and NCBWA All-America Third Team honors as a utility player. Again, he led the PSAC in hits with 77 and hit .462 against the PSAC East. Stone pushed Millersville to the PSAC championship game once again. He also totaled six hits in Millersville’s run to the Atlantic Regional title game.

Stone graduated with a bachelor’s degree in applied engineering and management. He is now the senior residential climate consultant at Vernon.
