Induction Speech
From 1995-98 Marauder striker Sean Szerba set scoring records that may never be broken. The 1998 PSAC Athlete of the Year and Millersville’s leader in career goals and points and single season goals and points set standards that haven’t been approached since his graduation.
As a senior in 1998, Szerba was crowned Millersvile’s all-time leading scorer with a record-breaking season of 23 goals and 52 points. His 23 goals is still sixth-most in PSAC history, and his season’s point total was 10th most all-time. Szerba’s 55 career goals is not only a Millersville record but ranks seventh in PSAC history. He is 12 goals clear of second place and no player since his graduation has come within 21 goals. His 124 points is 19 more than any other Marauder and is tied for 11th in the PSAC record books.
With Szerba leading a potent attack, the Marauders totaled 27 wins and two PSAC Tournament appearances during his junior and senior seasons. His 1998 club posted a then-school record 14 wins and reached the PSAC Championship game. He led the team in goals and points as a freshman, junior and senior.
Szerba is one of only two Millersville men’s soccer players to be a three-time All-PSAC First Team selection. He was also All-NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region in 1997 and 1998.
Szerba received a bachelor’s degree in business in 1999 and now works as a first shift manufacturing supervisor at Bayer Healthcare. He is the proud father of three children: daughter, Vanessa, and twin boys, Dillon and Vincent. His mother, Marilyn, father, William, and brother, Ryan, also reside in Myerstown.
