An exceptional all-star guard during the mid-1980’s, Peg Kauffman helped the Millersville women’s basketball team earn its only two (to date) Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament championships, in 1984 and 1987.

Kauffman scored 22 points in the ’84 state title game at Hershey in which the Marauders downed Shippensburg, 69-54. A four-year letterwinner and starter, the Lancaster native was a Fast Break Second Team (Division II) All-American as a sophomore and earned third team status in her junior and senior years. Additional honors featured All-ECAC Division II South selection in 1985-86 and two All-PSAC Eastern Division First Team choices (1985-86 and 1986-87).

In her junior season (1985-86) in which she earned team MVP honors, Kauffman averaged 19.1 points per game (second highest in a season in MU annals) and established ‘Ville records for field goals made (224) and attempted (527). She went on to become the MU career record holder for field goal makes (643) and tries (1,584).

Ranked fourth on the all-time MU scoring chart with 1,398 points, Kauffman also is third in career steals (282) and is fifth in assists (408).

Kauffman served as an assistant coach for MU during the 1992-93 season and helped guide the Black & Gold cagers to a share of the PSAC East crown. She also served one season (1991-92) as an assistant to her father, Lamar, at her scholastic alma mater, Lancaster Catholic High School, and coached AAU basketball for two years. She also earned a master's degree in education from Millersville in 1992.

At Lebanon Valley College, Kauffman has excelled as head women’s basketball coach. She has amassed a 145-102 record in 10 seasons and is the only mentor in the program’s history to reach the 100-win milestone. Her LVC teams have qualified for the Middle Atlantic Conference playoffs four times and have appeared in three ECAC Division III South Region tournaments.

For the 2001-02 season, Kauffman was honored as the MAC Commonwealth Division and WBCA Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. Her 2002-03 cagers captured Lebanon Valley’s first ECAC South Region crown to cap a 21-6 campaign.

Since 2001, Kaufffman has taken on additional administrative duties at LVC as assistant athletics director. She has since been named director of athletics at Millersville University.

Kauffman scored more than 1,300 points at Lancaster Catholic and earned Female Athlete of the Year honors in 1983. Recently, she was selected to the LCHS Athletic Hall of Fame.
