Paula Light was a game-changer for the Millersville women’s basketball program. Light, a 1993 graduate, arrived at Millersville one season before Coach Mary Fleig, but by her senior season, Light and Fleig teamed to bring the Marauders a PSAC East Championship—the program’s first in eight seasons. Light was the first Marauder to achieve All-PSAC East First Team status three times and is one of only four all-time. Following her senior season in 1993, Light became the second and one only five Marauders to ever win PSAC East Athlete of the Year honors.

A true playmaker, Light averaged 13.4 points, 6.1 assists and 2.8 steals per game. She scored 1,318 points and set a school record with 597 career assists. She is currently one of only three players to rank in the program’s top 10 in both points and assists. Light also averaged 2.8 steals per game and ranks sixth all-time. Light led the Marauders in scoring at 17.3 points per game as a sophomore in 1990-91 and repeated the feat as a junior by averaging 14.3 points per game.

Light delivered as a senior in 1992-93, leading the Marauders to a 17-9 record. Piloting the offense, Light averaged 8.0 assists per game and set a school record with 201 total. She also averaged 12.3 points per game while shooting an efficient 45.3 percent from the field. She led the team with 69 steals that season and in addition to landing her third All-PSAC East First Team honor and PSAC East Athlete of the Year recognition, Light was named WBCA/Division II All-America Honorable Mention—one of only two Marauders ever to earn that distinction.

Light received a bachelor’s degree in marketing. She helped open Lancaster businesses the Pennsylvania Fudge Company and The Chestnut Hill Café.
