A play-making linebacker for the Millersville football team from 2000-2004, Joe Hollister remains the only Marauder to win the PSAC East Defensive Player of the Year award.
Hollister was a three-year starter, a two-time All-PSAC East First Team selection, and a consensus All-Northeast Region performer in 2002 and 2004. Over the course of his four seasons, Hollister totaled 288 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, six sacks, four fumble recoveries, and seven interceptions. He is one of just seven Millersville linebackers named All-PSAC East First Team twice.
In 2002, Hollister recorded 20 more tackles than any other player on his team and ranked fourth in the PSAC with 98 stops. He also intercepted three passes and recovered a pair of fumbles on his way to his first All-PSAC East honor. A shoulder injury wiped out Hollister’s entire 2003 season, but he returned to form in 2004.
Hollister again led the team in tackles, this time ranking second in the PSAC with 98. Displaying a knack for finding the football, Hollister intercepted three passes and broke up four. Hollister was voted All-Northeast Region by D2Football.com, Don Hansen’s Football Gazette, and by the region’s sports information directors.
Hollister served as a team captain in 2004 and was recognized on the Millersville Football Wall of Honor in 2022.
Hollister graduated with a degree in business administration in 2004 and found success in strength training, serving as the Vice President of Performance for Power Train and the head strength and conditioning coach of the professional football team Memphis Express. Hollister currently works for Lancaster Catholic High School.
