Jay Dimler, pitcher of the first recorded no-hitter in Millersville history, is one of just six Millersville baseball players named All-PSAC East First Team three times. From 1985-88, he was a workhorse starter on the mound, establishing school records for wins, strikeouts, complete games, and innings pitched.
Dimler totaled 17 wins over four seasons, and his eight wins in 1988 established a program record that would stand for a decade. Dimler was the first Marauder and still one of just four to lead the team in innings three times, and he is one of only three to lead the team in strikeouts three seasons in a row. Dimler also set a single-season record for complete games and games started in 1988, and in 1987, he set a single-season strikeout record that would not be broken until 2013.
Dimler’s first All-PSAC East honor followed a 1986 season in which he logged 52 1/3 innings, posted a 5-2 record and 3.96 ERA. As a junior the following season, Dimler struck out 85 batters in just 62 innings, averaging an incredible 1.37 strikeouts per inning—a mark that still ranks first in Millersville history. On April 16 of that season, Dimler tossed a no-hitter as part of an 8-0 win at Bloomsburg.
As a senior in 1988, Dimler logged a record 80 1/3 innings, starting 14 games and going 8-5 with 65 strikeouts. He closed his career with his third consecutive All-PSAC East honor.
Dimler graduated with a degree in occupational safety and hygiene management and is now the owner and president of JWD Associates LTD.
