The first Marauder to win a NCAA Championship, Ernest Eric Guyll won the 190-pound national championship in 1976 and remains one of only five Marauders to ever stand atop the national championship podium.

From 1972-76, Guyll was a three-time NCAA Division III All-American and a four-time placewinner at the PSAC Championships, finishing as the runner-up twice. He posted an 87-23 record, and his .791 winning percentage is among the best in program history.

Guyll started his career as a 177-pounder in 1972-73 and tied for the team lead in wins as a rookie, posting a 15-6 record and finishing fourth at the PSAC Championships. That was only the beginning of a storied career. He improved upon his PSAC finish the following season, taking third as a sophomore. He won 11 of 12 duals in one stretch, helping Millersville to an 11-3 dual meet record. His only loss at the PSAC Championships came against two-time Division I champ Wade Schalles. He qualified for the Division III Championships that season as well.

Then, as a junior in 1974-75, Guyll went 20-4 with eight pins, placing as the runner-up at the PSAC Championships and taking sixth at the NCAA Division III Championships for his first All-America honor. He again led the team in wins as a senior in 1975-76, posting a 31-6 record. Guyll again finished as the runner-up at the PSAC Championships. Then, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Guyll wrestled his way to a NCAA Division III Championship—the first in Millersville’s history. After winning the Division III championship he earned the right to compete at the Division I championship tournament. He won three matches at the event.

Guyll graduated with the Millersville career record for wins, passing Marauder hall of famer Mike Panarella.

After graduating with a degree in secondary education, Guyll coached wrestling at Oxford Middle School and Solanco Elementary and served as a Lancaster-Lebanon League Official, retiring after 25 years of service. He presently works as a substitute teacher and maintains the family 14 acre estate in Lancaster County.
