If there is a passing mark in the Millersville football record books, you can be almost certain that Drew Folmar owns it. Inarguably the most productive and accomplished quarterback in the program’s history, Folmar passed his way to four All-PSAC East honors and a 30-12 record in four years as the starter.

No Millersville quarterback won more games than Folmar, who posted a remarkable 20-4 record against the PSAC Eastern Division. He totaled 92 career touchdown passes, 10,483 passing yards and completed a staggering 60.8 percent of his passes. He still owns 17 school records and ranks in the PSAC’s top 25 in 12 categories. Folmar graduated with the PSAC record for touchdown passes and currently ranks fourth. He remains fourth in career completions, fourth in passing yards and fourth in total offense. He is the only player in school history to throw for 3,000 yards and 30 touchdowns in a season, and he accomplished this feat twice.

Folmar won the starting quarterback job as a true freshman in 1997 and made an immediate impact. He completed 173-of-294 passes for 2,152 yards—the third-high total in school history at the time. That production placed him on the All-PSAC East First Team, and the Marauders rolled to a 7-3 overall record. There was no sophomore slump for Folmar in 1998. Instead, he led the Marauders to a perfect 6-0 PSAC East record and emerged as a regional finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy by leading the PSAC in passing efficiency and ranking third in Division II in total offense. He set five single-season school records that season and produced memorable performances including 432 yards, five touchdowns and three fourth quarter touchdown drives in a come-from-behind, 34-31 win over West Chester.

As a junior, Folmar guided Millersville to the NCAA Division II Playoffs, where it scored a victory over Shepherd in the opening round. Millersville’s three losses that season came by a combined total of just 13 points. He was named All-PSAC East First Team for a third consecutive season after throwing 26 touchdowns to only four interceptions in the regular season. He ranked sixth in the nation in both total offense and passing efficiency. His 3,280 yards set a Millersville school record that stands to this day. Folmar capped his storied and record-setting career by leading the Marauders to a 5-1 PSAC East record and landing a spot as finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, Folmar served as an assistant coach at both New Haven and Millersville. He became Kutztown’s offensive coordinator in 2009 and coached one of the most productive offenses in Division II before being promoted to the program’s head coach following the 2012 season.  Folmar is married to his wife, Heather, and has three children: a   daughter, MacQuarrie, a son, Gavin, and a younger daughter, Tessa.
