A true winner and the force at the net, Cathy Sipes Jennings led Millersville University volleyball through its most successful four-season stretch, winning four consecutive PSAC East titles and the program’s lone PSAC Championship in 1995.

Jennings’ teams posted an incredible 38-2 PSAC East record from 1992-95, and she was a major reason why. A two-time All-PSAC East selection and AVCA Atlantic Region pick in 1995, Jennings piled up 195 block solos and 1,167 career kills during her career. Nearly 20 years later, Jennings still ranks first in career block solos, eighth in career block assists, third in career kills, third in career hitting percentage (.267) and seventh in career service aces (162). Jennings is still one of only eight players in program history to total more than 1,000 career kills and reached that mark with fewer attack attempts than seven of the eight players on the list.

Her impact was immediate. As a freshman in 1992, Jennings totaled the program’s second-most block solos ever with 74. She made an entry into the record book’s top 10 in each of her four seasons. The following season, as the Marauders ran through the PSAC East with a 10-0 record, Jennings averaged 3.0 kills per match with a hitting percentage of .266. Her 78 total blocks led the team. As an All-PSAC East pick in 1994, Jennings averaged 3.0 kills with a .265 attack percentage and recorded 76 more total blocks.

The banner season came in 1995 when Jennings helped the club to a 24-3 overall record, a 10-0 mark in the PSAC East, a PSAC Championship and a trip to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Jennings produced a .317 hitting percentage that season—a mark that still ranks fourth-best all-time.

An all-around student athlete, Jennings was named CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 in 1995. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in special education. Jennings coached high school varsity volleyball at Central York High School from 1997-2000 and worked as a job coach at The Arc of York County until 2003. She was married to her husband Terry Jennings in 2002. She and Terry are the parents of twin girls Jordyn and Logan, and son, Evan. She is currently a preschool teacher at Hayshire United Church of Christ.
