Junior pitcher Tim Mayza set the tone for Millersville's first four-game sweep of West Chester since 2001 by hurling a complete game shutout in the series opener. Pitching on the road, Mayza limited West Chester two just two hits and two walks over seven innings of work. Mayza also fanned six West Chester batters. Only in the seventh inning did West Chester put two runners on base in the same inning. Both hits Mayza allowed were singles. The win was Mayza's ninth of the season, his fourth complete game and his second shutout. It also lowered his ERA to 1.42.
