Millersville, Pa. - After winning two of the past three matches entering Saturday afternoon, the Marauder women's tennis team couldn't come up with a win at home against West Chester, falling 5-4 at the McComsey Tennis Courts.
Millersville took two of three doubles matches, getting wins from the pairings of Melissa Plowman and Kelsey Waite and Nicole Daacke and Alexandra Heller. Plowman and Waite defeated Brittany Counts and Alison Fetter by the lopsided score of 8-2, while the tandem of Daacke and Heller picked up a win over Jessica Marascio and Heather Hidalgo, 8-6.
In singles play, the only Marauders to win matches were Plowman and Daacke. Plowman beat Counts in three sets by scores of 1-6, 6-4, 6-2, and Daacke took down Jami Dumler by scores of 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 10-7 in a thriller. With the team loss, the Marauder record drops to 5-10, while West Chester goes to 12-7.
The Marauders' next match is Monday at home against Chestnut Hill. The matchup with the Griffins begins at 2 p.m.
