Perfect Game Gets Murphy PSAC East Pitcher of the Week Award

Lock Haven, Pa. - After throwing just the 18th perfect game in NCAA Division II history, Millersville right-handed pitcher Chris Murphy was named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Murphy is now a two-time winner of the weekly award, having won it following his no-hitter against Glenville State on Feb. 24. Murphy is the first Millersville pitcher to throw two-hitters in the same season. His perfect game is the first on record at Millersville.

Murphy needed only 64 pitches--52 of which were strikes--to pitch the first perfect game in Division II since 2009 and the first by a PSAC pitcher since 1999. He struck out six batters.

Through six career starts, Murphy holds a 5-1 record and 2.54 ERA over 39 innings. He's also struck out 47 compared to just seven walks. He has totaled no fewer than 5.2 innings each of his six starts and has struck out at least six in each.

The Marauders host Indiana (Pa.) Friday at 1 p.m. for a non-conference doubleheader.
