Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville men's and women's track and field teams garnered 14 top-five finishes at the Millersville Spring Opener on Saturday afternoon. Michele Frayne and Chrissy Savage each earned top honors for the Marauders.
Savage took home first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.81 seconds. Savage claimed second in the 200-meter dash in 26.56. Teammate Mattie Conaboy tied for seventh in the 200 in 13.39.
In the 100-meter hurdles Frayne earned second place, crossing the line in 15.51 seconds.
On the distance side, Emily Francisco placed seventh in the 1,500-meter run. In the 5,000-meter run Sarah Tull ran a time of 19:09.48 for third place.
In field events, Frayne claimed top honors in the long jump, clearing a distance of 5.53 meters. Liz Herzog jumped 4.89 to tie for sixth place.
In the triple jump, Whitney Savoy tied for fifth with a distance of 10.23 meters. Heather Miller landed sixth in the hammer throw, launching it for 40.97 meters.
On men's side of action, Jeff Robinson, Derrick Bass, and Keith Ogden placed third, fifth, and sixth, respectively in the 200-meter dash. Robinson crossed the line in 22.28, followed by Bass in 22.55 and Ogden in 22.56.
The three traded places in the 100-meter dash. Bass finished in sixth with a time of 11.12. Ogden finished in seventh in 11.20, and Robinson finished eighth with a time of 11.25.
Tyler Longenecker placed eighth in the 5,000-meter run in 17:22.43. In the 1,500-meter Seth Hibbs ran 4:01.45 for fifth place. Connor Veres took home fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:12.26.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Ogden, Robinson, Stephen Boyd, and Bass ran a time of 42.67 for a third place finish.
Bass jumped a distance of 6.72 meters in the long jump for third place. In the triple jump Stephen Boyd cleared a distance of 13.06 meters for fifth place.
Avery Webster placed fifth in the hammer throw, tossing a distance of 48.14 meters. Peter Hafer landed eighth place with a distance of 44.30 meters. Webster took home seventh in the shot put, landing 14.05 meters.
The Marauders travel to Bloomsburg next weekend for the Bloomsburg Invitational and Multi Event.
