Marauders Make Mark at NYC Gotham Cup

New York, N.Y. – The Millersville women's and men's track and field teams posted an impressive 12 top-10 finishes at the New York City Gotham Cup Friday afternoon, in New York, N.Y.
On the women's side, senior standout Brittany Yanora broke two Millersville records, in the 400-meter dash and the 60-meter dash. She completed the 400 in 57.68 seconds for a new record and fourth place in the event. She also placed sixth in the 60-meter dash with a new school time of 7.90 seconds.
Also earning points for the Marauders was junior Jess Rhyner, who placed sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.5 meters. Sophomore Whitney Savoy earned third place in the triple jump with a distance of 10.71 meters.
On the men's side, senior Derrick Bass took home fifth place in the long jump with a distance of 6.97 meters, followed by freshman Jorrel Nugent, who placed sixth place with a distance of 6.90 meters. Senior Stephen Boyd made his mark in two events, placing second in the long jump's unseeded group with a notable jump of 6.53 meters. Boyd also placed third in the unseeded triple jump with a distance of 13.38 meters. Freshman Chris Wallace placed seventh, jumping 12.74 meters.
In his Millersville debut, freshman Dakota Snell earned fourth place in the shot put, throwing for 12.51 meters. Senior Avery Webster threw for 15.31 meters in the weight throw to place sixth. Webster also placed sixth in the shot put, throwing for 13.86 meters.
The squad's next meet begins on Jan. 29 and continues through Jan. 30 in the Bison Open at Bucknell.
